Celebrate Ocean Week Canada at the Gorge Waterway Nature House

This is a FREE family-friendly event that is both fun and educational. Join Seaquaria Ocean Education and the Gorge Waterway Action Society at the Gorge Waterway Nature House (1070 Tillicum Road) to explore the wonders of the ocean through games, crafts, interaction with live animal ambassadors, watershed model demonstrations, guided watershed walks, and so much more! There will also be interpretive information booths from local organizations, which will offer various education activities and networking opportunities for all ages.

This event will celebrate our organizations’ shared passion for ocean education, marine conservation, and environmental stewardship by creating a diverse, interactive event where all community members can learn about the ocean and the organisms that call it home. This event is targeted at youth involvement, but will be accessible and engaging for all ages, abilities, and learning levels. World Ocean Week events across the globe offer an opportunity to inspire connections between people and places in various communities, and a chance to foster hope through action. We hope to empower community members to connect with their local environment and develop a conscious desire to learn more about their impacts and what stewardship actions can be taken to help protect the ocean. By providing hands-on educational opportunities, we aim to reach youth through learning, play, and feeling. We have found that engaging on multiple levels makes environmental lessons more engaging and longer lasting and makes people more passionate and resilient in their efforts to conserve our planet.
