Canadian jazz singer Angela Verbrugge – voted Best Female Vocalist in 2020 by JazzTimes readers – brings passion and emotion to every beautiful note. The charismatic singer, composer and lyricist toured Canada, Europe, Turkey and Japan last year. On her 2023 tour of Germany, Angela will be accompanied by celebrated New York bebop pianist Ray Gallon. Mentor to John Lewis, Hank Jones and Jaki Byard, Gallon has been a fixture on the New York scene for forty years and has played with the likes of Ron Carter, Lionel Hampton, Les Paul, Art Farmer and Benny Golson and featured artists such as Sweets Edison, Accompanied by Dizzy Gillespie, Jane Monheit, Sheila Jordan and Joe Williams. They are supported by the young emerging rhythm section of German-born, New York-based Daniel Nagel on bass and Finn Wiest on drums. The band brings the authentic New York swing feeling to the flowing instrumentation and the harmonious arrangement details. Their sound fuses perfectly to create a tight interpretation of classic vocal and instrumental jazz standards as well as original material in a timeless style.
