North American premiere of Edgar Pera's latest film "Caminhos Magnetykos," part of the Rhode Island International Film Festival.
Edgar Pera is one of the most innovative, prolific and celebrated filmmakers in Portugal today. His latest film, Caminhos Magnetykos, has become a sensation in Europe and Brazil. Originally conceived as a science fiction work, in these times Magnetick Pathways seems hyper-realistic. The film is a bit psychedelic, a bit H.P. Lovecraft. It stars Dominique Pinon (Delicatessen, Amelie, and "Master Raymond" in the popular Outlander series) as Raymond Vachs, a man driven to question the meaning of his life when his beloved daughter marries one of the power elite in a future where Portugal is ruled by an authoritarian plutocracy. Selected in the Rhode Island International Film festival it has one showing at 4 PM on August 10 at the AS220 Black Box theater. (English subtitles).
Time: 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
