Playing instruments that range from the rare 10-foot long contrabass flute to the traditional piccolo, CAFE musicians surprise and enthrall audiences by playing diverse genres: oldies, classical, show tunes, jazz, folk, patriotic, and pop. Their concerts are engaging, educational, and entertaining because they actively involve the audience. This free concert is funded by a Glendale Performing Arts Grant, and there will be plenty of room for social distancing.
There will be two 45-minute segments with a 10 minute intermission. Expect:
* An introduction to the flute family: Contrabass, bass, alto, C flute, and piccolo. Each instrument will be heard individually and then showcased as part of the flute choir sound
* Friendly, clear introductions to each piece along with interesting trivia about the music and composers
* Creative arrangements of familiar melodies along with a few new pieces to appreciate
* Active engagement with the audience by asking questions, inviting comments, and encouraging singing and clapping, selfies with contrabass after concert
