Brigid Festival Vancouver is a three-day festival to celebrate the creativity of women. While the festival is based on the maiden, mother, crone aspect of the Irish matriarchal Saint Brigid, it is non-religious. Traditionally, Brigid's Day, February 1, heralds the return of spring and a time of rebirth. Panel presentations include: Brigid: A Return of the Divine Feminine; Brigid Cross-Weaving with Irish-Canadian artist Deirdre Keohane; Bad Bridget: Histories and stories of Criminal and Deviant Irish Women in North America (1838-1918); The Bridget Coll Story: Presented by Chris Morrissey; Records and Redress: A Dialogue on Irish Mother and Baby Institutions and and Canadian Residential Schools; closing with a Performance Reading Women of the Diaspora. Registration is FREE and everyone is welcome.
