Join us at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre for a special Black History Month screening of The Space Race. This compelling documentary highlights the untold stories of Black astronauts who fought against social injustice to reach the stars. Featuring pioneers like Guion Bluford and Ed Dwight, the film explores the intersection of race, space exploration, and Afrofuturism, redefining what it means to have "the right stuff."
Following the screening, enjoy a special Q&A session with Tumi Fabiyi, Program Co-lead from Ethá»Ìs Lab, a non-profit that fuses Black culture into science, technology, engineering, applied arts, and math (S.T.E.A.M) programming to encourage inclusion, acceptance, and representation. The evening will be hosted by Marley Leacock, an astronomer dedicated to making space science more accessible and inclusive.
Don't miss this inspiring celebration of resilience, progress, and the trailblazers who changed the face of space travel!
