As BIRKENSTOCK celebrates its milestone of 250 years of tradition in shoemaking, the brand is proud to showcase a one-of-a-kind exhibition highlighting the brand's vast cultural footprint and 250-year heritage. The visual journey held at its cultural hub, Dray Walk which not only honours BIRKENSTOCK's deep-rooted tradition but also celebrates its rich design heritage and underscores its profound cultural relevance.
The exhibit collages never-before-seen archive materials from THE BOOK OF BIRKENSTOCK, including first advertisements, original photo and marketing materials from private estates and public archives, iconic brand campaigns and trend defining fashion editorials. The retrospective will be embellished by product displays showcasing the breadth of BIRKENSTOCK’S design history; displaying an array of one-of-a-kind products & notable designer collaborations from the likes of Rick Owens and Toogood.
The exhibition also provides early access for individuals to preview the visual imagery from “OLD MILLS NEVER DIE” - a limited-edition photo book set. Henry Leutwyler documents treasures from the BIRKENSTOCK archive and production, whilst work from Werner Bartsch takes visitors on a journey through BIRKENSTOCK’s production sites in Germany, exploring the people and places that shape the brand today. Subversive visuals from Juergen Teller’s GOLBORNE ROAD capture some of the characters who define the authentic neighbourhood of Notting Hill - all wearing BIRKENSTOCK’S.
