Cambridge's newest and most exciting choir joins forces with the world-famous BBC Singers for a not-to-be-missed performance of Rachmaninov's epic All-Night Vigil.
Featuring some of the composer's most soulful music, this work, written for the Orthodox church shortly before the 1917 Revolution, shows Rachmaninov at his most inventive and heartfelt.
The concert also showcases Schola's director Graham Walker, with virtuoso pianist Iain Farrington, in Rachmaninov's Sonata for Piano and Cello. The Sonata was written around the same time as the famous 2nd Piano Concerto, and demonstrates similarly achingly beautiful melodies with rich and characteristic harmonies.
