Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District is hosting a listening session to receive comments and questions from local residents about Badger Mill Creek PLUS, an initiative of the District to achieve mandatory phosphorus compliance in Badger Mill Creek.
Badger Mill Creek is one of the sewer district's discharge points. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources requires wastewater treatment plants to reduce the amount of phosphorus in their discharges to maintain the health of local waterways and aquatic species. The District is currently considering options to achieve the phosphorus level mandated for Badger Mill Creek.
This listening session will start with a brief presentation about the project, including what phosphorus is, why it's required and the compliance options that are currently available. Attendees will then have the opportunity to share comments, questions and concerns in a listening session. (Note that the audience may be broken into smaller groups to better facilitate conversation.)
