"The Arts of Mata Ortiz and Oaxaca" Trunk Show and Sale

Once again the Mata Ortiz artisans from Mexico will be in the Museum's Learning Center Friday, January 13 through Sunday, January 15. Join us for the "The Arts of Mata Ortiz and Oaxaca" Trunk Show featuring the pottery of Jerardo Tena Savdoval, Norma Cecilia Hernandez Lucero, Mariela Tena Hernandez, Luis Enrique Ortiz Olivas. They will demonstrate the firing of pottery throughout the weekend. Visit with master silversmith Agustin Beltran Torres, Torres makes the Mata Ortíz shard jewelry with Taxco silver and is from the city of Taxco in the state of Guerrero in Mexico. And, a crowd favorite, Master Weaver Porfirio Gutierrez will be returning with his dazzling textiles as well.

The trunk sale in the CCLC is open and free to the public, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. For all Museum members, please join us for a members-only preview at 9 a.m. on Friday January 13.
