Art Attack AK Grand Opening May 21: A Celebration of Street Art featuring Naomi Hutchquist

Saturday, May 21st at 5pm, Art Attack AK kicks off its inaugural season with A Celebration of Street Art, a multi-faceted presentation featuring a workshop, visual art, and live music. The event celebrates a theme of street art through the work of local artists including Naomi Hutchquist and DJ Renegadehifi.
Located on the site formerly housing Judie Gumm Designs, Art Attack AK is the inspired creation of Zoe Quist and Daniel Ponickly. "When we took over the space, we wanted to keep the end of Main Street a vibrant contribution to art in Ester" says Quist. A singular venue, Art Attack AK offers dynamic indoor and outdoor performance and exhibit space to accommodate each featured artist's vision and expression. The couple has recently relocated to the area, the move being a return home for Fairbanksan Zoe Quist. As artists and performers themselves, Quist and Ponickly arrive from Los Angeles, CA bringing extensive experience in the performing arts, and an exciting vision for promoting and premiering unique, dynamic work, especially that of local creators.
Art Attack AK is a multi-use performance and gallery space adding a new dimension to Alaska's art scene. It will be showcasing inspiring new art from Alaska's interior and guest artists, combining performance and art into spectacular events revolving around guest artist visions and mediums, while integrating the entire campus as a living canvas. Co-founder of Art Attack AK, Daniel Ponickly, the artistic director and co-founder of the California non-profit Ballroom MADNESS, states "We are excited to create a campus where all artists can find their full expression."
