After a two-year hiatus, 90 Miles Theatre Company returns to the stage with the family-favorite musical "Annie." The new production, directed by Philip Corso with choreography by Denise Wornell, features an award-winning cast of 26 players from around the Hudson Valley and delivers a message of hope and redemption.
"Annie" opened on Broadway in 1977, and the Depression-era story of a little girl's quest to find her parents quickly stole the hearts of audiences worldwide. The show, with music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and a book by Thomas Meehan, won the Tony Award for best musical and ran for nearly six years, breaking box office records and spawning international tours, film versions and sequels.
The 90 Miles cast includes regional theater stars Heather Martyn as Miss Hannigan and Joseph Jervais as Daddy Warbucks, recent RIT grad Sam Kaplan as Grace Farrell, and 11-year-old Audrey Isserles of Rhinebeck as Annie, with the "orphan" girls and ensemble hailing from Poughkeepsie, Highland, Brewster, New Paltz, and surrounding communities.
"I couldn't ask for a better cast to bring these characters to life," said Corso. "It's going to be a great show."
