ALEXANDER MALOFEEV PIANO RECITAL SINGAPORE 2025

Passion Through the Mist

A Late Romantic Spiritual Encounter

ABOUT ALEXANDER MALOFEEV
“The latest phenomenon of the Russian piano school” (Corriere della Sera)

Born in 2001 in Moscow, Russia, Alexander Malofeev is a prodigious pianist acclaimed for his technical brilliance and profound musicality.  He began playing piano at age five and later trained at Moscow Gnessin School of Music where his exceptional talent quickly garnered attention.

His career soared to international prominence in 2014 when, at just 13, he won the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians. This triumph led to collaborations with leading orchestras such as the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra, and the Philharmonia Orchestra, under maestros Riccardo Chailly, Mikhail Pletnev, and Myung-Whun Chung. Malofeev has graced iconic stages including Carnegie Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, and Royal Albert Hall, captivating audiences with his interpretations of Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, and Tchaikovsky.

Critics laud his blend of fiery virtuosity and lyrical sensitivity, particularly in Russian Romantic repertoire. His 2021 recording of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Russian National Orchestra exemplifies this acclaim.

At 23, Malofeev stands as a defining voice of his generation, merging reverence for tradition with fresh artistic vision, and cementing his place as a torchbearer for the future of classical piano.

ABOUT THE RECITAL
In this immersive recital, Alexander Malofeev conjures alchemy from the C. Bechstein piano, guiding listeners through landscapes of shadow and flame. Schubert’s introspective reveries unfold with fragile vulnerability, while Kabalevsky’s Sonata erupts with the restless energy of a rebuilt world. Janáček’s fractured harmonies lay bare the conflict between despair and hope, and Scriabin’s mystic visions dissolve into celestial radiance.

Malofeev’s sensitive touch transforms war’s embers, passion’s fever, and transformation’s crucible into a single luminous arc, proving art’s power to carve light from darkness.
