Cincinnati Juneteenth Festival Events: June, 2023
Cincinnati's 36th annual Juneteenth festival will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 17 and 18. The family-friendly free festival, which celebrates the end of American slavery, includes many attractions for all ages. The festival begins at noon on Saturday with a parade of flags representing the African diaspora-the origins and forced destinations of Africans during a slave trade that lasted for more than 400 years.

Juneteenth Cincinnati invites freedom loves to join a participatory dance in Smale Riverfront Park. Wade in the Water pays homage to the role that water in many forms has played in the journey into and out of enslavement over the past 400 years.
Raising The Juneteenth Flag
The Festival will be preceded by flag raising ceremonies at the Cincinnati Art Museum ( June 13 at 11:00 am); The Hamilton County Courthouse (June 15, 10:00 am); and Cincinnati City Hall (June 16, 12:00 noon).
Saturday June 17: The Festival Begins at Noon in Eden Park
The Juneteenth Festival continues from noon through 9:00 pm on Saturday:
-Supervised activities for children include crafts, free books and horseback rides
-Health , history, and education tents
-Historical reenactors
-Shopping, and, of course, great food.
-Stage performances by Mirror Lake and in the Seasongood Amphitheater will reflect the shared heritage of American, Caribbean, and Latin cultures. Performing artists include Jazz Renaissance, Last Boppers Cincy Brazil Samba, Rollins Davis Band, Elevation Band, Iugo-Uma Drum and Dance, Heart Sounds, Unique Soul, Ms. Jaz, spoken work by the Voice of Freedom poets, and magic by Frank Kyle
-8:00 pm Soul Review with a Tribute to Aretha
***Shuttle van service will be available from along Gilbert Avenue and into the Festival area.***
Chess Time, a Cincinnati chess club, will conduct a chess match at the festival with cash awards for the champions. Expect some fast-paced and exciting play!
Sunday, June 18 Father's Day Concert
Sunday, June 18, is the Juneteenth Father's Day concert, an afternoon of inspirational music in Eden Park's Seasongood Pavilion. The concert features numerous outstanding choirs, liturgical dancers, groups, and soloists, including The Charles Fold Singers, Neva Ford Nations, Praise Ekeng, Empty Vessels, MLK Choir, James McCray Chorale Ensemble, Malcolm Turner, Psalm, Heavenly Doves, and John Thornburn.
