The bacterial diversity of the human digestive system can have a profound impact on human health. This collection of helpful bacteria inside us is called the "microbiome." In this lecture, Dr. Ghishan will discuss the role of the gastrointestinal microbiome in health and disease, how diet and lifestyle changes can allow us to live in harmony with our microbiome, and how the microbiome is affected by prebiotics and probiotics.
Dr. Ghishan is a board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist at the UArizona College of Medicine - Tucson and is an internationally recognized expert in gastroenterology and related clinical research. His laboratory has been in the forefront of research on the microbiome and nutrition in children, work that has resulted in hundreds of publications and numerous awards.
