The Good Food Network is hosting the annual Good Food Gathering on November 26 and 27. The Good Food Gathering brings food growers, educators, land-based organizations, food, and youth together to learn, share, and work towards a better relationship with land and food. This year's theme, 'Listening to the Land', aims to center Indigenous knowledge and decolonization of the food system.
The event features both virtual and in-person sessions to best fit individual comfort levels. There will be educational sessions led by great local community organizations working in food justice, food access, and food literacy. Additionally, there will be several discussion sessions, touching on themes such as accessibility and disability justice in food systems, restoration and resilience in Indigenous Food systems, regenerative agriculture, climate action and so much more! To conclude and complement the educational and conversational sessions, the Gathering will finish with a viewing of the film, "Food is Land, Land is Body". Check out the rest of this year's program here: https://www.goodfoodnetwork.info/2021-good-food-gathering.
Through storytelling, land-based learning, and workshops, the 2021 Good Food Gathering will provide opportunities for networking, learning, showcasing success, and thinking critically about how to grow our local food system through connections with land. Weaving through themes of food and land on unceded territories, sessions will feature the work of local organizations and initiatives working to create healthier, more sustainable, just, and resilient food systems.
In an effort to create an equitable and accessible event we are offering free and sliding-scale tickets available for IBPOC communities, students, unhoused and low-income individuals. Check out the website for all ticketing information.
The 2021 Good Food Gathering will be hosted following B.C health guidelines.
