13th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Clean Up, Peace March, and Celebration

We are excited to invite you to the 13th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Clean Up, Peace March, and Celebration. In the spirit of over a decade of collaboration across neighborhoods of Wilmington, this year’s event is generously hosted by the Jefferson Street Center, located in Hanover Presbyterian Church at 1801 Jefferson Street on Monday, January 20th, 2025 from 10:30 AM-3 PM.

The spirit of this year’s event is “United in Commitment, Stronger Through Connection”. We have invited local nonprofits and community-based organizations to host service projects “done-in-a-day” and engage with the hundreds of volunteers that show up every year to give back. The intent is to further connect community members with organizations that help their neighbors every day, and give both the opportunity to increase their impact with each other, in addition to opportunities for celebration, relaxation, and breaking bread with neighbors and making new connections and affirming commitments to community care.

Schedule:
-10:30 AM-12 PM Community Cleanup: Meet at Todd Memorial Park, across 18th St. from Jefferson Street Center
-12 PM-1 PM Peace March: Line up in front of Todd Memorial by 12 PM
-1-3 PM Celebration: Join us inside the Jefferson Street Center for music, food, activities, and service projects done-in-a-day

Highlights of the Day:
-Entertainment: Enjoy tunes spun and sponsored by DJ Timdogg
-Service Projects: Engage in "done-in-a-day" projects with local nonprofits and community organizations
-Community Resources: Access free resources, giveaways, and a meal with your neighbors provided by local businesses
-Small Business Marketplace: Support local small businesses and keep your investment local
-Family-Friendly Activities: Participate in the "I Can Do 26.2 Kids Running Series" winter activation in the Jefferson Street Center gym (registration required), games, and activities hosted by I Am My Sister’s Keeper and MSK Community Center
-Free Local Food: Break bread with a warm meal from local businesses like La Flor Grocery and others
