Bark in the Park 5K and 1-Mile Dog Walk

WHAT IS BARK IN THE PARK?
Bark in the Park 5K Run and 1-Mile Dog Walk is held each year in October at City Island in Harrisburg, PA. This is our 10th year doing this event and we're hoping to have another record-breaking year with your help! Participants attending this event get to spend a fun October morning with their pets, dress up in costumes and run and/or walk for a great cause! Your monetary donation helps to fund our core programs that help feed, aid, and educate people, pets, and veterinarians of the Commonwealth. Every dollar makes a difference in the lives of animals and veterinary students.

Last year's Bark in the Park event had:

Over 500 participants in the walk and/or run;
Approximately 40 donated raffles; and
Over $17,000 raised for Animal Care PA's programs.

5K Race
Fetch your sneakers, dog, and dog leash or come alone and run! If you and your dog are both able to comfortably go the distance, dogs are welcome to join their owners on the 5K (USATF Certified) run. The course begins and ends on City Island and includes Harrisburg's, Riverfront Park.

Race Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to the top overall fastest male and female runners and the top three male and female runners in the following age groups:

11 and under
12-19
20-29
30-39
40-49
50-59
60-69
70+
Teams
Join together with friends and honor a special pet by forming your own team. A registration form and waiver must be signed by EACH individual team member. Please contact Jen Morris at [email protected] to set up your team.

Event Guidelines
Water will be provided for both you and your dog along the course
Walk or run with only one dog per person
Run only if your dog (and you) can comfortably go the distance
Use a 6-foot or shorter, non-retractable leash
Make sure your dog has current ID and rabies vaccination tags
Bring bags and clean up after your dog
Bring dogs that are 6 months or older only.
Unaltered dogs may attend if they have previously been in group settings with other dogs
Must be registered by October 8 to be guaranteed a shirt from the event.
