Dayspring Native American United Methodist Church invites you and your family to attend their “Hunting Moon Celebration” – a family FUNdraiser – on September 28th from Noon-7pm! Hickory River Smokehouse is providing a delicious hog roast sure to tantalize your palate. In the meadow, Blue Sky Stables will show four of their most beautiful Appaloosa horses, with one painted in Native American style as a “war horse.” As you stroll through the beautiful grounds, you will see people wearing Native American-style regalia, you will have an opportunity to listen to storytelling in a real tipi or visit the Vendor Village. Crafts and games for all ages will be available throughout the day. A variety of arrowheads and other Native American artifacts will be in display and you can learn about their history from Gary Hulin, published author and archology enthusiast; guests are encouraged to bring in their own artifacts for dating and classification. Later in the afternoon, the Peoria Drum Circle will bring their vibrating thunder to the celebration in addition to Dayspring’s own Spirit Drum and Women’s Drum singers. As the sun sets, Fire Dancers will entertain us with their spellbinding performance. Don’t forget the check out the generous silent auction items inside the great room and visit the gift shop. This is a family friendly event filled with food, fun and fellowship. We hope to see you there!
