The taste of Spain is a lively celebration of Spanish cuisine and drink, the proceeds of which will benefit the expansion and building fund of the Montessori Learning Center. Established in 1978, The Montessori Learning Center (MLC) of Fort Walton Beach has served the greater Fort Walton Beach area with a comprehensive Montessori-based early childhood education for grades Pre-K3 through Kindergarten. In 2017, The MLC expanded to serve 1st Grade and added 2nd grade in 2018 to meet an obvious and robust demand for continued education in the Montessori model. In the near future, the MLC’s unilateral goal is to purchase and build a dedicated campus in the heart of Fort Walton Beach and offer a curriculum from Pre-K3 all the way through the 6th grade.
Within our community, the high academic standards of the MLC are well established and highly regarded. The Montessori model provides unmatched flexibility and accommodation to a vast array of unique learning styles and speeds, transforming the “work” of education into a self-driven joy and desire to learn for the child. Scientific studies comparing Montessori to a Traditional education have proven Montessori students to be more interested in learning, more self-disciplined, and more creative. Montessori students outperform their peers on standardized testing and are more likely to go to college than peers exposed to a Traditional educational method. The MLC’s resolute academic goal is to provide each student with a Montessori-based education that rivals that of the best Montessori schools in the nation. In our students, we create lifelong foundations for learning and foster the development of the whole child.
