The New England Venture Capital Association (NEVCA) is set to host its first-ever Health Week event later this spring. The COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented changes to healthcare delivery, connectivity, diagnosis, management and care. In response to these changes and the implications they have on the venture capital and tech communities, the NEVCA has planned a week of events dedicated to in-depth, interactive discussions on the advancements and technology-driven responses that are addressing urgent needs within the industry and driving future trends.

Health Week will kick off with Unpitch HEALTH, part of the near-decade old Unpitch series that brings early-stage founders together with senior investors; three VC Briefing sessions will follow, on topics ranging from women’s health to healthcare sales cycles to OUD management; a Member Education session focused on healthcare media strategy rounds out the slate.

Unpitch HEALTH - Pre-Event Networking with Entrepreneurs and Investors
Description: Unpitch HEALTH is part of the near-decade old Unpitch series, bringing early-stage founders together for personal meetings with senior VCs. The pre-event networking session is an opportunity to mingle with the Unpitch HEALTH founders and participating investors from the Boston area, and beyond.

VC Briefing: Women’s Health Co-Hosted by LRVHealth
Description: It’s shocking, but true: the US has the worst maternal and infant mortality rates in the developed world, and poor outcomes cut across racial and social divides. Women continue to have experiences that leave them feeling unheard and misunderstood, often leading to care that does not meet their needs or that is inconsistent with their values. While these challenges call for systemic changes, the path forward must also consider the digital transformation of healthcare and the role technology will play in new care delivery models – especially in the post-Covid world. This panel will discuss these challenges and the unique opportunity they present for health systems, employers and payers to distinguish themselves with initiatives that can go beyond attracting and retaining employees or healthcare consumers, to building relationships with families that can last a lifetime and cross generations.

Member Edu Series - Post-Pandemic Media: Health Tech Media in a Post-COVID World
Description: COVID-19 has driven drastic shifts not just in the healthcare market, but in the healthcare media as well. From the inundation of breaking news to the rapid shift in beats, the pandemic has turned newsrooms on their heads. As we emerge from the COVID-crisis, we sit down with leading health tech reporters to uncover the trends, issues, and companies they’re most interested in covering in the aftermath of the coronavirus. Join V2Communications Vice President and Healthcare Practice Lead Kristen Leathers as she speaks with health tech journalists across the national, local and trade media.

VC Briefing: Managing & Modeling Healthcare Sales Cycles Co-Hosted by Echo Health Ventures
Description: Health care startups regularly look to scale through health plans, employers and health systems, but CEOs know that enterprise sales cycles can be brutal on a startup. Payers and providers want the innovation a startup can bring, but often get frustrated with the lack of insight and preparedness early-stage companies bring to the partnership. So how can sales cycles be better managed to cross this chasm?

VC Briefing: OUD Management Innovations Co-Hosted by Flare Capital
Description: 2020 has taken the undisputed title of the “deadliest year in American history.” Not only were we battling a pandemic that strained our health system and took hundreds of thousands of lives, but COVID-19 also exacerbated the opioid epidemic, becoming a perfect storm for those struggling with substance use disorder
