Carols of Christmas

The public is invited to attend "Carols of Christmas," the Salina Chorale's 40th Christmas concert. Our concert will be presented on Dec, 1, 2019 from 5 pm to 6 pm (please note the new time) at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, located at 118 N. 9th Street in Salina. We hope this concert, featuring 83 strong voices with instrumentalists, all focused on presenting our best for your pleasure in the acoustically perfect venue of the Sacred Heart Cathedral, will be a wonderful way to finish out your Thanksgiving Weekend and to welcome the advent of the Christmas season. 

This year's international collection of carols will include an "African Noel," which will have our feet moving to its beat and maybe yours too. There is a Spanish Christmas carol from the 16th century called "Riu, Riu, Riu;" several carols in Latin, one composed by John Rutter, and another a song about Christmas as a Holy Festival; a traditional American Shaker Christmas tune; and a number of other songs, including some of the more traditional American carols we all know and love, like "Silent Night" and "The First Nowell," and the wonderful "Rhapsody of Christmas" which includes many more traditional favorites like, "Angels We Have Heard on High" and "O Holy Night."  Plus, who can forget our usual somewhat rowdy rendition of the "Wassail Song" --all performed in our mixed four-part ensemble style. 

Tickets for the concert are Adult tickets $10 with Students K-12 admitted free. These are available from Chorale members until November 25th, then available at the door of Sacred Heart Cathedral prior to the start of the concert. Following the concert, a cookie reception will be provided by the gracious members and good cooks at Sacred Heart. Come enjoy great Christmas songs sung and played beatifically by the Salina Chorale.
