S.T.A.R., an organization devoted to developing minority students in PG County, is organizing a "Juneteenth Festival" at the Black Lives Matter Plaza. The purpose of this event is to honor the past, while acknowledging that we all aim to create a better future. During this moment, where black lives and black culture have been shown to be disposable commodities, we seek to promote black-owned businesses. We also aim to bring the city together in a celebration of our lives, our culture, and our liberations. This festival will feature food, music, retail products, and performances, and it is co-sponsored by We Are Marcus (WAM).
