Compost your pain for the world + turn it into the fertile soil of connection and action
Our world is at a crossroads between unraveling and thriving and we can't know how it will play out. We look in the face of climate chaos, rampant ecological destruction, rising racism, xenophobia and white nationalism and for many of us, the despair and burnout that comes with recognizing the implications of this crisis can make it feel difficult, if not impossible, to find joy, meaning and effective pathways for action.
In this monthly 4-hour stand alone workshop, we come together to learn and practice Joanna Macy's "The Work That Reconnects". Each workshop will be a collective exploration of what it means for each of us to honor our immense pain for our world while cultivating active hope. Cultivating Active Hope is a practice that is different from optimism. It is about becoming active participants in bringing about what we hope for. To have active hope is to have the internal sustenance to find joy, compassion and meaning amidst our pain for the world, so that we can sustain connection and action.
In each workshop we'll use reflection, dialogue, movement and imagination to create a space of mutual exploration and support. In community, you'll look at what it means for you to live with joy and Active Hope amidst our global crisis so that you can transform your pain for the world into fuel to create the more beautiful world that you know is possible.
