The renewed interest in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy for the treatment of psychological disorders, as a continuation of the decades of research conducted pre-prohibition, marks the so-called “psychedelic renaissance”. While these medicines have been used within indigenous, non-European cultures around the world for millennia, a lack of diversity and inclusion of people from such communities and other minority groups are seen within psychedelic research, both amongst the staff and participants. With the growing acceptance of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, it is important to consider the issues that are contributing to this lack of diversity to move towards increasing representation within this field. Given the variety of experiences participants may present with, such as race-based trauma, consideration should be given to cultural competencies and diverse clinical teams.
This event will include talks from three expert speakers who are actively contributing to this fascinating field, followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A.
