London's Docklands is launching Doktoberfest, a high-end Oktoberfest extravaganza, transforming a former 35,000 sq. ft. riverside warehouse into a fully functional 1,500 capacity Munich style Bierkeller, costing over £1/2m to create and build.
The new event boasts it will be the biggest and best German beer festival in London and is conveniently located just a stone's throw from Canada Water Station on the Jubilee Line tube and Overground line.
The event will be housed at a brand new venue called Dock X in south-east London which will be transformed with over 100 traditional bench tables and seating, a Bavarian blue and white draped canopy ceiling, live music stage, DJ booth, 100 meters of long bars, including a champagne and cocktail bar, VIP tables and a VVIP elevated area.
Doktoberfest launches on 10th October and runs for six weeks every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night from 6pm to midnight. Over 20,000 people are expected to attend and over 70,000 pints of premium Erdinger Beer quaffed during the fest.
Inside the venue it will look like an authentic 19th Century beer hall with hosts dressed in traditional Dirndl and Lederhosen. Guests will be entertained by live band performances playing all the best rock and pop sing-along classics, as well as an in-house Oompah Band. There will also enjoy be high-octane circus performances from risque cabaret artists including a German aerial gymnast called "Bath Boy"
