As the decade that gave birth to soul music drew to a close, 1969 saw some of the funkiest most soulful sounds ever recorded storm the charts on both sides of the Atlantic - with all-time classic tracks like Sly Stone's 'Every Day People', The Meters' 'Cissy Strut', The Isley Brother's 'It's Your Thing' and Edwin Starr's '25 Miles' all securing their place in soul music history.

Xantone Blacq

London-based vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter/producer Xantone Blacq's music is a sonic adventure fusing jazz, funk and soul with music from around the world. Xan describes his sound as 'free-range sunshine music'. With major influences in Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock and Stevie Wonder, Xantone's first single releases were "Search For The Sun" and "The Dance" both receiving critical acclaim and club/radio airplay from international luminaries such as Masters At Work, Gilles Peterson, Kyoto Jazz Massive and Jazzanova.

Xan has since remixed and recorded for ground-breaking international labels including Warner Music/Dro (Spain), Compost Records (Germany), Trama Records (Brazil) and Loop (New Zealand). He is also a highly sought after feature artist performing on the latest albums of Bruno E, Big Bang, Delgui, Soul Vigilantes.

The release of Xantone's album 'To The Heavens And Beyond' was filled to the brim with euphoria including guest performances by master sax funkster Alfred "Pee Wee" Ellis, Brazilian vocalist Patricia Marx, Classical Indian vocalists Preeti and Unnati Dasgupta and Italian songstress Manuela Panizzo, who add unique flavours to this colourful album.

Touring the world several times as sidekick to Amy Winehouse and Nigel Kennedy, Xan performed at all the glorious hotspots a musician can imagine from Wembley arena to the Grammy award ceremonies.

Xan currently runs Platinum Fingers Music Ltd in London
