The Moscow Seasons summer festival will combine the two major delights of the sunny season – flowers and desserts! The Moscow Summer. Flower Jam Festival will be held in Moscow during 20 July – 6 August 2017. More than 40 venues across the city will welcome guests to marvel at unusual flower compositions, taste homemade ice cream, jam and other goodies, as well as visit concerts, performances and exciting workshops.

Flowers

The Moscow Summer. Flower Jam Festival will bring together the best landscape architects, designers and florists of Russia and the world to turn Moscow into a blooming garden! The projects of the Open International Landscape Design Competition finalists will be used to decorate the shared festival venues in the city streets, squares and parks.

Visitors will get a chance to marvel at the never-before-seen flowerbeds, flower panels, art objects and unusual floral compositions, as well as to learn the basics of floristry and gardening at the dedicated workshops. As for professionals, they will be able to share experience and draw inspiration from the innovative ideas and technologies showcased at the meetings with world-renowned landscape design gurus, open lectures and other business programme events.

Sweets

The “sweetest” part of the festival is the gastronomic programme. Restaurant and market chalets will offer guests the most delicious and unusual sweets from all over the world: various jams and compotes, cakes and pastry, candies, fresh and candied fruits, honey, and the king of all summer delicacies – ice cream (lots of it). Treat yourself to a sweet kaleidoscope of eco-ice cream, handmade ice cream, eskimo pies and sorbets!

The festival will feature “sweet days”, each dedicated to a certain kind of sweets (cakes, gingerbread, ice cream, honey, candy, jam). For example, the Cake Day (20 July) will include a confectionery show, workshops on baking healthy cakes, and a competition of the most creative aprons. The Gingerbread Day (21 July) will follow it up with lectures on the history of the Russian gingerbread by Moscow museums.

The highlight of the “sweet” programme will be the competition to choose the Moscow Candy! The festival will be hosting a contest for an original candy recipe, which will be named after the city of Moscow. The best Russian and international confectionery factories will be vying for the prize, and the winner will get 1 million rubles! Another contest will be held among young designers and art university students, which will determine the best logo, wrapping and packaging for the new candy.

The recipes and designs of the candies will be judged by an expert jury of well-known Moscow confectioners, culinary journalists and bloggers. However, it will be up to the Muscovites to pick the winner: they will taste the candies at the festival venues and take part in an online vote.

Moscow Candy will be sold on City Day, celebrated on 9 and 10 September 2017.

Cultural Programme

Do no miss the lessons on floristry and gardening, as well as workshops on making sweets!

For example, Revolution Square will host the Green Market – an area where children can sow and reap their own crops!

In Kamergersky Side Street, molecular cuisine will unveil its secrets, and people will get a chance to attend workshops on making sweet pastry, healthy candies and fruit and berry ice cream.

The culinary school in the Arbat will bring to life the favourite jam recipes of the classic Russian writers.

Participation in the festival activities is free.
