CLIMATE CHANGE RISK MANAGEMENT IN BUILDING RESILIENCE TO MITIGATE EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE
DATE: 25th to 29th January 2021
COST: USD 800 Or Ksh 65000
INTRODUCTION
Climate change and other environmental stresses have been a policy concern to many countries particularly in low and medium developed countries. Some of the impacts of climate change include drought and floods. Countries that are usually affected by drought and floods among other climate change risks rely on emergency assistance which is in most cases not sufficient due to limited resources in those countries. Furthermore, predictions of future climate change by the countries meteorological departments are sometimes uncertain, and the future impacts are difficult to predict. This places emphasis on acting early and ensuring that systems are in place to deal with negative climate events. This 5 days course aim to achieve this objective by ensuring that participants acquire knowledge on climate change risk management strategies to mitigate effects of climate change.
DURATION
5 days
COURSE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the training participants should:
Establish linkage between impact of climate change and climate-related disaster risk
Utilize decision support tools for reducing climate-related disaster risks
Plan for climate change adaptation using climate information to develop targets and appropriate strategies
Identify options for climate risk management to a given context
