We are so excited to invite Junko to host and teach in our live streaming workshop. Junko Azukawa is renowned for her Sumi Painting and Japanese Calligraphy. We fell in love with her work the first time we saw it.

You will learn basic Sumi-e painting strokes for traditional subjects like bamboo, flower, and a dragonfly. During the session, you will perfect one of the above subjects of your choice and create your own masterpiece towards the end of the lesson under Junko's guidance.

Our class is intentionally small so that everyone gets our undivided attention.

Knowledge Required: Perfect for beginners and is a great indoor activity idea for individuals, couples, group of friends and kids (minimum 14 years old).  

Material Kit will include :

  1. Rice Paper for calligraph
  2. Weasel Hair Brush - for Sumi-e
  3. Ink Stone
  4. Ink Stick
  5. A bottle of ink
  6. 50 cm x 50cm felt cloth

What you will learn

  1. How to make and use different Sumi-e Ink tones
  2. How to control brush pressure and rhythm
  3. Introduction to traditional subjects : Bamboo, Koi or Dragonfly to practice strokes

What you will get

  1. Your own Sumi-e Painting with your subject preference

What to bring

  1. Material Kit - Weasel hair Brush, calligraphy rice paper, Ink Stone, Ink Stick or bottle of Ink
  2. Bottle of Water
  3. 1 piece of 50x50cm felt cloth & line the table to avoid ink stain

What to wear

Apron or wear dark colored clothing (to avoid ink stain)

Refund & Cancellation Policy

Kami requires 48 hours notice via email prior to the start of a class or event for a full refund or transfer.  Refunds and transfers will not be processed if cancellation occurs within 48 hours of the event commencing. We do not offer refunds for missed classes. There are no fees for refunds or transfers. For cancellations prior to the 48 hour cut off, email Kami to organise a refund or transfer.

Terms & Conditions

Anyone partaking in any classes or coming to any events at Kami or organised by Kami must agree to these terms and conditions.

1.) LIABILITY WAIVER

I agree to take on full responsibility for any damages, injuries and for physical and/or personal property, which I might incur whilst participating in classes and/or events organised by Kami .

2.) PHOTO & VIDEO

I agree to give Kami unrestricted publishing rights for any photographs or videos taken at Kami classes and events or on Kami 's premises. (For use of Kami marketing materials).

3.) REFUNDS

Kami requires 48 hours notice in writing prior to the class for a full refund or transfer. 

4.) CANCELLATIONS

In the event that a class is cancelled, students will be notified via text message or email and entitled to a full refund or credit.
