New musical to open at St. Luke's Mission Theatre in Charlestown on October 19 and 21, 2022.

Charlestown, N.H. -- The Serpent in the Desert will be presented for two performances at St. Luke's Mission Theatre, 176 Main Street in Charlestown, N.H. on the evenings of October 19 and October 21, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. This musical program is based on an original play by Philip Turner. Carol Clark wrote the music and libretto. William vonGillern of Claremont, a professional instrumentalist and arranger, will provide musical accompaniment to the performance of an ensemble of 14 voices conducted by professional musician and opera singer, Carlos Martinez.

The Serpent in the Desert is a moving story in song about the dramatic conversion of two Pharisees to become followers of Jesus at the time of the crucifixion. The story is told from their perspective.

Mr. Martinez, has performed on more than 5,000 occasions worldwide as an opera singer and as a conductor of operas, operettas, and musical theater. He is currently a public-school teacher in New Hampshire and is the choral director of Trinity Anglican Church in Rochester, New Hampshire.
Mr. Turner has performed locally in acting roles with the River Theater Company and the Off Broad Street Players. He authored and produced The Serpent in the Desert at the Springfield Community Players in 2019. Mr. Turner has been a resident of Charlestown, N.H.
Ms. Clark studied piano and organ in Vermont and California. She has played at the request of many churches for the past 50 years and has led children and adult choral groups in the United States and overseas. Ms. Clark wrote the music and libretto for the musical. She also is a resident of Charleston. N.H.
Tickets ($10 each) may be purchased at the Sumner House Restaurant in Charlestown or online by going to www.eventbrite.com and searching for "st lukes mission theater" and entering "New Hampshire" for the location. Tickets may also be purchased at the door on the evenings of performance between 7:00 - 7:30 p.m.
