Gloria! Vivaldi and his Angels

Vivaldi taught at the girls' orphanage, the Ospedale della Pietà in Venice for over 30 years, and much of his music was written for the students of the Ospedale. Concerts by the students drew admirers from all over Europe at the time. The music emanating from behind a screen that separated them from the listeners must have sounded like the voices of angels. Our program is a tribute to those students and features the famous Gloria along with other choral and vocal works sung by an all-women choir. Also included are two recorder concerti, demonstrating the vituosic instrumental music that was written for and performed at the orphanage. Ensemble Caprice is an acclaimed ensemble from Montreal, known for their energetic and inventive approach to Baroque music. They are joined by Ensemble ArtChoral, also from Montreal.
