Anna Maria Jopek: Polish pride
A vocalist, composer, visionary and a proud Pole, Anna Maria Jopek is a trained classical pianist and a jazz musician who is adept making any song her own. Hugely inspired by Polish musical traditions, she effortlessly merges feisty folk rhythms with jazz and classical music. She has played at some of the world’s most prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Hollywood Bowl, and Royal Festival Hall, among others since she started performing in 2000, and has sold more than a million albums.
She travels to India just weeks after releasing a new album, Minione – a collaboration with Grammy Award-winning Afro-Cuban jazz pianist and composer, Gonzalo Rubalcaba – with her band that includes AMJ on vocals and electronic keyboard, Krzysztof Herdzin (piano, accordion, flutes, calimba, vocals), Robert Kubiszyn (bass, wave drum, backing vocals, live looping), PaweÅ Dobrowolski on drums and Piotr Nazaruk on flutes and traditional Polish folk instruments.
