The Global Travel Entrepreneur Challenge (GTEC) is a global business competition for students. In this challenge, students will learn to develop and run a travel business from scratch in a three-month period with the support from Pacific Asia Travel Association - PATA and Triip.me
CHALLENGE INFORMATION OVERVIEW
Step 1. Registration
Students form team of 1-5 members and appoint a Team Captain. Team Captain registers by filling a form on the homepage of GTEC 2016. The registration form is opened here. The registration will be closed on Sep 25th, 2016.
Step 2. Team Profile
The Captain has to verify the team profile by clicking a verification link sent via email from the GTEC team and access team's Profile with the email account used during the initial registration.
Next, the Captain can add detailed information to the profile, move onto creating profile video.
Note: The Captain should receive a verification email within 3 days after submission. Please make sure to check your email âspamâ folder, as some email software may flag GTEC emails as spam.
Step 3. Create Video
This is a major component of the challenge. Each team has to submit a short video with the maximum length of 90 seconds, introducing the team and their city. It must be uploaded on Youtube or Vimeo then the team have to update the video link on their profile page.
Deadline for submitting profile video is 10 days after receiving the verification email.
Step 4. Run the business
1. First, the team has to create a tour (the base product of their travel business). There are many resources for students to refer to in our Resources section.
2. Submit the tour itinerary on Triip and wait for tour approval from the GTEC. Once the tour is approved, it will be available for booking.
3. Team will do their best to promote the tour and get booked.
4. Repeat and optimize the process for the best operation and experience.
5. Continue to ship more paid local experience for the travelers (read create more paid products).
Step 5. Write Business Report
1. Wrap things up and prepare the business reports to compete for the final prizes.
2. Teams have to submit their business report by Nov 23rd (0:00AM ICT).
3. All reports should use the following formatting: 12-point Times font, 2.54cm/1in page margins, A4 or US Letter paper, left-justification, 1.5 line spacing.
4. Reports must be written in English and uploaded in PDF format.

Step 6. Judging
A panel of judges from Triip, PATA and Gobi Partners Venture select the winning teams based on the success of their business. Winners will be announced in the end of November 2016.
Judging criteria
Total: 100 points
Profile: 30 points
Business: 70 points
 1.Tour creation: 10 points (Title, whatâs so special, image, highlights)
 2.Business Report: 60 points
