CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES:
Green Economy for Sustainable Development!
Green economy, of late, is considered to be an ideal path for improving the economic growth ambitions of a country, its social development and achieving its environmental safety initiatives and goals.
Carefully considering the alarming levels of environmental degradation and pollution levels, many countries have started introducing green-initiatives in order to preserve the environmental and ecosystems.
Why Green Economy?
Green economy is considered as an alternative vision for growth and development in order to improve people’s lives in a sustainable economic environment. Interestingly, Green Economy promotes three important aspects which are as follows; advancing economic, environmental and social well-being in a sustainable manner.
Present Economic Growth Models Do Not Help Long-term Well-being!
Of course, the present economic growth model which focuses mainly on growth in GDP ignoring larger interest of the society has helped reduction of poverty and improvement in per capita income. Unfortunately, this growth has a cost attached to it, i.e., damage to the environment and destruction of flora & Fauna and the ecosystem. This unpleasant trend cannot prolong for a longer period of time and has to be arrested in a gradual manner. To address the above issues and problems, Green Economy is, of course, the only answer.
Greater Initiatives by Governments!
Let’s consider some of the important initiatives taken by a few economies. Sources (Research Reports).
Republic of Korea has a natural strategy for green growth. China has invested funds in renewable energy than any other country in the world. Namibia has placed greater emphasis in protecting its natural resources in order to generate greater economic and environmental benefits.
In UAE, the Emirates Green Development Council announced 96 initiatives related to water, energy management programs and other environmental issues. The initiatives include green industry development, energy-producing accommodation projects, legislation on management and disposal of certain materials, water and energy management strategies, and programs encouraging sustainable transport, a report says. The report further states that the council’s strategy is based on a modern approach represented by a switch to a green economy and reduction of carbon-dioxide emissions. These are laudable steps in the right direction, indeed.
The upcoming conference offers a platform for researchers, economists and scholars from different parts of the world to share their research outcomes, gain useful insights and ideas to undertake new research works.
Conference Objectives:
The upcoming conference would make an earnest attempt in order to achieve the following objectives:
a) identify the factors which contribute to green initiatives and sustainable development in the interest of the economy;
b) strengthen such of those factors which contribute to the areas of green initiatives and sustainable development by undertaking socially relevant research projects with the support and cooperation of scholars, governmental agencies and funding bodies to focus on the welfare of people;
c) offer an ideal platform for researchers, economists, bankers and practitioners to share their research & practical experiences in all the major issues highlighted as above primarily in the areas of green economy, sustainable development and economic well-being of the society;
