INTRODUCTION
In its present day form of industrial usage, pneumatics i s a relatively young progeny of technology, gaining traction in the late 18th century although it had been used in simpler devices for many centuries before that. It has since evolved into an extensive and successful branch of engineering. A diversified line of pneumatic equipment of a mature engineering standard is already on the market and can be expected to grow further in size and efficiency in the future. Repeated releases of equipment with newer features and newer application areas demonstrate the continuous growth in the field of pneumatics.

The main objective of the program is to expose participants to pneumatic components, circuit diagrams and systems. Educating people to properly use pneumatic power is crucial for the economical use of energy. The three aspects having a vital bearing on the efficient use of pneumatic power are: proper designing of pneumatic circuits and selection of appropriate components for pneumatic system design. This workshop aims to cover the design and operation of pneumatics devices. It has been designed to make new user feel at ease while trying to understand the âwhyâ and âhowâ of the operating principles of pneumatic and electro pneumatic equipment and their control aspects including electro pneumatic based controls .

1. Introduction to Low Cost Automation
2. Pneumatic valves and actuators
3. Design of Single Cylinder Electro pneumatic circuit
4. Design of Multi Cylinder Electro pneumatic circuit
5. Design of time and event based Electro Pneumatic Circuits
6. Hands on training exercises
7. Simulation of Single Cylinder Electro pneumatic circuits
8. Simulation of Logics based Electro Pneumatics Circuits
FACULTY
Theoretical and Practical sessions will be handled by experienced academicians from Kongu Engineering College.
BOARDING AND LODGING
The candidates are requested to make boarding and lodging on their own arrangement.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Students from AICTE approved Engineering colleges with Mechanical/Mechatronics/Aeronautics /EEE/EIE and Polytechnic colleges with relevant basic knowledge.

ABOUT THE FLUID POWER LABORATORY
Fluid Power Laboratory of Mechatronics Engineering is established in the year of 2001. The Fluid Power lab is equipped with Janatics Made Pneumatic Trainer Kits, Festo Made Electro Pneumatic Trainer Kits, Simulation Softwar e Automation Studio V5.6, Fluidsim P; Mansco made Hydraulic Trainer Kit, Hydrosmith made Proportional Hydraulic Trainer Kit. The total cost of the equipments in the Lab is around Rs.40 Lakhs. The Laboratory has developed 60 low cost automation projects, undertaken 15 consultancy works and 4 research works in the last 15 years.
