MACHINE LEARNING & ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
We live in an evolving world where technologies and platforms are transient. Yesterday’s buzzword can become obsolete tomorrow, and today’s catchphrase may soon lose its significance. There are, however, certain technologies that may or may not roll in with much ado, but with time become phenomena. Artificial Intelligence has been one such technology which has gained a considerable ground since it was baptized at the Dartmouth Conference in 1956 by John McCarthy, who is regarded as the father of Artificial Intelligence.
Today, Artificial Intelligence finds its application not only in the IT or technology industry, but also in other fields such as medical, education, manufacturing, and law. From the lovely voice assistance of SIRI to satiating our movie appetite with NETFLIX; in the admiration of a car geek for TESLA, to being awestruck at the sight of flying drones, artificial intelligence, in some way or the other, has entrenched into our lives. And it may still sound incredible that this is only the beginning.
INTRODUCTION
Artificial Intelligence imparts human-like intelligence and thinking to machines. In simple words, it is an attempt to make machines behave like human beings, especially with respect to the mental faculties. Machine Learning is a subset of Artificial Intelligence aimed at imparting cognitive capabilities to machines that enable them to perform tasks such as image recognition, pattern analysis and output prediction with a similar or even better efficiency than humans.
Artificial Intelligence incorporating Machine Learning is the science and engineering that imparts intelligence to machines and computers. Human intelligence and learning can be described in precisely discrete ways such that a machine can be programmed to simulate it. This is the crux behind the formulation of concepts and theories associated with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
