Highlights of Mahashivratri 2018
A distinct feature of the Mahashivratri celebrations at the temple is that the festivities highlight a core theme every year in order to help devotees focus on an aspect of devotion and spirituality. The theme for the upcoming Maha Shivratri celebrations on 13th February, 2018 is “Perform the Special Barah Jyotirling Abhishek” as an expression of Bhakti and Devotion.
The Maha Shivratri celebrations at the temple begin early in the morning as devotees start arriving before sunrise to offer their prayers to Lord Shiva statue. The festivities continue through the day and night until the next day.
Special events, spiritual activities, Shiv aarti, prayers, poojas, live Bhajans, Mahashivratri songs, Maha Yagnas, a Jagraan (all-night vigil), a special and enriching Light and Sound show are organised to commemorate this Divine Day with the hope of strengthening faith, promoting spirituality and effecting a deeper connection with God that may eventually help seekers on their path to the attainment of Moksh.
