ABOUT SMU and SMIT
The Sikkim Manipal University was established in 1995. It is the first government-private initiative in the region. SMU is recognized by the University Grants Commission and approved by the Government of India. It is the first ever Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the country for higher Education and Health Care services. The Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) is a constituent college of Sikkim Manipal University. Established in 1997, SMIT is part of the renowned Manipal Group that has made its mark in the field of education and health services in India and abroad. SMIT ranked 1st in the State of Sikkim (source: CSR-GHRDC Engineering Colleges Survey, 2015). In addition, it also holds ISO 9001 accreditation vide NS-EN ISO 9001:2008 for all the courses. Now, the Institute is progressing for NAAC soon.
