International Conference on Mechanical Engineering Design 2016

The scope of International Conference on Mechanical Engineering Design is to provide an international forum for exchange of ideas among interested researchers, students, developers, and practitioners in the areas of Engineering Design and research.

ICMED'16 addresses key topics and issues related to all aspects of Mechanical and Multidisciplinary Engineering Design. Conference program include technical sessions, panel discussions, symposiums, tutorials, demos, and workshops and plenary/keynote speeches. The Conference will be held in Chennai, TamilNadu, India during April 25-26, 2016. Accepted and presented papers will be published to peer-reviewed journals.

SSN College of Engineering has a faculty strength of 260 with a faculty student ratio of 1 faculty for every 15 students. Out of the total, 156 faculty are PhDs. and 91 are in the process of completing their PhDs.

The department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 2007. The department offers B.E (Mechanical Engineering) from the academic year 2007 – 2008, M.E (Manufacturing Engineering) from the academic year 2012 – 2013 and M.E (Energy Engineering) from the academic year 2013 – 2014.Our mission is to create a research hub engaged in contemporary research in association with industries and other reputed institutions, impart best-of-class education to students with up-to-date curriculum and content in tune with industry requirements and foster a spirit of entrepreneurship among students to enable a few launch their own ventures.
The department has highly qualified and experienced faculty members; many of them are with Ph.D. degree. The faculty members actively engage in research and constantly publish papers in International and National Journals. The department regularly organizes technical workshops for the faculty members to expose them to emerging areas.The department has the state of the art facilities for various laboratories, classrooms to support e-learning and department library. The department has a well equipped centralized workshop facility which caters to the needs of various departments. Guest lectures and industrial visits are periodically arranged for the students to supplement their curriculum. We strive for all round excellence in students, encouraging them in all extra curricular activities

The department has research projects funded by Department of Science and Technology (DST), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Naval Research Board (NRB) to the tune of more than 1.5 Crore for conducting research in Friction Stir Welding, Magnetic Moulding of Composite Materials, Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC), FEA of Composites and Vibration
